GSBC Minitstries

The mission of the Board of Deacons is to support the vision of Pastor Mallette and the Christian Mission of the Greater Second Baptist Church.  We are responsible for assisting our Pastor Mallette with Christian training, visiting sick members, and administering Communion to home-bound members.  We walk in obedience to the Word of God guided by His Spirit.

The mission of the Board of Deaconess is to assist Pastor Mallette in developing the spiritual life of the women and girls of our Church for Christian service.  We willingly work with our Pastor and the Board of Deacons in visiting members who are sick, in-need, or distressed.  The Board of Deaconess is responsible for the preparation of the Lord's Table for Communion and preparation of women and girls for the ordinance of Baptism.

The mission of the Pastor's Aide Ministry is to provide support to the Pastor, show appreciation for his leadership, spiritual guidance, and faithfulness in fulfilling his pastoral charge.  The ministry addresses the needs of our Pastor through prayer, fellowship, encouragement, and recognition.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 reminds us, And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake.  Be at peace among yourselves.

The Honorary First Lady's Society is committed to supporting GSBC's Honorary First Lady - Lady M. Lee Mallette.  We are honored to accompany Mother Mallette to outside engagements and celebrate her various accomplishments during our fellowship outings.  As a society we recognize the vision of Pastor Mallette and continue to salute, honor, and celebrate Mother Mallette for her faithfulness.  We wholeheartedly believe, "To God be the Glory for all of the Glorious Things He has Done".

The Golden Age Society was founded and organized by Pastor Eric C. Mallette for the purpose of serving GSBC's senior members.  Our shared vision is to ensure that senior members are provided with services and programs both within the church and throughout the community.  We are dedicated to supporting the work of other GSBC ministries and community organizations.

The thrust of the Radio Broadcast/Media Greater Ministries (MGM) is to make God's Word accessible to all people who seek Him.  You can hear Pastor Mallette's Sunday morning sermons every Sunday morning at 9:00 am on WGBB 1240 AM.

Serving as the "Mission Arm of the Church", the Missionary Society is dedicated to being a beacon of help and service both within the church and throughout the surrounding communities.  Some of our deeds include visiting ailing church members and consoling bereaved families.  Our community outreach includes an Annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive to provide food essentials to families and elderly in need.  Additionally, we are committed to supporting the missionary vision of Pastor Mallette with projects throughout the year.

Ecclesiastes 3:11a says "He hath made everything beautiful in his time" and in keeping with this scripture, the Floral Club is dedicated to the beautification of our church.  Throughout the year, we are responsible for adorning our church sanctuary with seasonal decorations and floral arrangements.  Also, we extend our efforts to creating a welcoming floral landscape around church property.  We seek to create an inviting atmosphere for worship and praise.

The Ushers and Nurses Ministry strive to walk with humility as we serve all members and visitors of the Greater Second Baptist Church.  We are committed to the vision of our Pastor and diligently follow the motto:  Enter to Worship, Depart to Serve.

As part of our Church Music Ministry, the Greater Voices of Praise Ministry, we assist in ushering the presence of the Holy Spirit in our worship experience.  Through singing songs of Zion, we minister to people both within and outside of the church walls.  We are dedicated to representing our church throughout the community and through church fellowships.  We are committed to the works of the Lord and find great joy in being used by God.

"Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day." - 1 Chronicles 16:23

The Women of Worship (W.O.W) are "Faith Builders" - strong and dedicated women of faith working for God in a Mighty and Greater Way.  Throughout the year, we support the mission of Greater Second Baptist Church and vision of Pastor Mallette through various activities including our W.O.W Tea and Annual Women's Day Sunday Morning Service.

The Greater Second Baptist Church Sunday School is an integral part of the church Christian Education Ministry.  Our mission is to effectively carry out the teaching ministry of Christ.  We provide Christian learning for all ages:

Primary Class:  ages 8 and younger

Junior Class:  ages 9-13

Intermediate Class:  ages 14-18

Adult Class:  ages 19 and older

Youth/Young Adult Activities

The Mentors through Education Ministry seeks to provide spiritual, educational, and social guidance to GSBC's youth.  The dedicated adult mentors provide a supportive Christian environment to support youth growth and development.

The mission of the Mallette Youth Ensemble is to uplift the people of God through song.  All youth are invited to join us for rehearsal every Wednesday before the 2nd and 4th Sundays.

The Victorious Praise Dance Ministry purpose is to minster to the body of Christ through praise, worship, and dance.  We are dedicated to encourage and uplift God's people through liturgical dance.  Through praise dance, the lyrics of songs inspired by God's Word come to life and allow for an opportunity to experience God's glorious presence and bring about deliverance and breakthrough.

Psalms 149:3 - "Let them praise His name in the dance."

The mission of the Young Adult Ministry is to provide opportunities for young adults ages 18-35 to fellowship, with the goal of promoting spiritual growth.  The Young Adult Ministry seeks to support one another as we develop our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Moreover, we are dedicated to encouraging our GSBC youth to grow as Christians and have a positive impact within our church walls and throughout the community.  We are committed to collaborating with other GSBC ministries in providing programming and support for our youth.  Matthew 18:20 states, For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them; in keeping with this scripture the Young Adult Ministry invite you to fellowship with us.

The Dr. E. Mitchell Mallette Scholarship Committee is dedicated to providing undergraduate scholarships to our GSBC youth.  Furthermore, we provide guidance and information to our youth in preparation for college.
